Super Schools Summer Camps
This year, for the first time, Super Schools has created ‘Summer Camps’ for children aged between 12 - 16 years old. The aim is to provide children with a week’s ‘Master Class’ coaching by professional athletes and sporting super-stars in sport of their choice.
The residential camps are set in the beautiful Meon Springs valley in Hampshire and run from Monday to Friday. The children stay in Mongolian tents, called yurts, on a farm with a full range of sporting facilities nearby. The yurts are set up in a dormitory style, with a maximum of 5 children per yurt and a total of 20 children per week.
Each athlete attends for one day during the week. The children receive at least half an hour of personal tuition with each of the athletes during the day and have general coaching to improve their abilities, including talks and training tips.
In addition, they will take part in a series of additional activities such as mountain-biking along the beautiful South Downs, team building activities, fly-fishing tuition, a bushcraft and survival skills day, kayaking, football and walking, to provide a really fun and active holiday.
The Week’s Activities
The residential camp runs for 5 days from Monday morning through to Friday afternoon. There are 5 weeks in total, specialising on a week-by-week basis in Athletics, Biking, Rugby and Cricket, Triathlon and Pentathlon, with sporting legends attending from across all of the sports.
There will also be additional activities to encourage the children to get active and learn more about the environment.
